A Mathematical Modelling Approach to Efficiency Ranking Of Indian Non-Life Insurance Firms Using Super-Efficiency and Cross-Efficiency DEA Models

چکیده
This paper uses the DEA models to rank the efficiency of Indian non-life insurance firms over the period 2008-2013 with Expenses, Capital, Premium and Investment income variables in the modelling. These basic DEA models identify adequately the inefficient firms, but are weak in discriminating among those found to be efficient. To improve the discrimination, we used the Cross-Efficiency and the Super-Efficiency DEA models.

A study on efficiency and productivity of Indian non-life insurers using data envelopment analysis
This paper talks about the measurement of efficiency and productivity of non-life insurance firms in India. This study is focused on twelve private non-life insurance firms and four public sector non-life insurance firms of India in the period 2008-09 to 2012-13. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) coupled with Malmquist productivity Index is used in measuring the efficiency as well as productivity...
متن کاملData Envelopment Analysis with Sensitive Analysis and Super-efficiency in Indian Banking Sector
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is non-parametric linear programming (LP) based technique for estimating the relative efficiency of different decision making units (DMUs) assessing the homogeneous type of multiple-inputs and multiple-outputs. The procedure does not require a priori knowledge of weights, while the main concern of this non-parametric technique is to estimate the optimal weights o...
متن کاملA new approach to rank the decision making units in presence of infeasibility in intuitionistic fuzzy environment
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a linear programming based methodology to determine the relative performance efficiencies of homogeneous decision making units (DMUs). In real world applications, some input and output datas do not possess crisp/fuzzy essence but they possess intuitionistic fuzzy (IF) essence. So, in this study, we develop an IF BCC (IFBCC) and an IF super efficiency BCC (IFSE...
متن کاملTechnical Efficiency of Nigerian Insurance Companies: A Data Envelopment Analysis and Latent Growth Curve Modelling Approach
The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the performance of Nigerian insurance companies using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Because of the unavailability of the required data, the study is limited to ten Nigerian insurance companies for the period of five years from 2008 to 2012. The input employed were commission expenses and management expenses, while premium and investment income...
